Share the magic of books with children in need. Once again, RAFT (Resource Area for Teaching) is partnering with the San Jose Mercury News for the Gift of Reading Children’s Book Drive, bringing the magic of books to the Bay Area children who need it most. Between November 17 and December 16, we will gather thousands of new and like-new books. These books will go to under-served children, and to help teachers build classroom libraries for the children they teach —increasing the children’s chances at long-term academic success. To Donate Books: One of these books is sometimes the only holiday gift a child will receive, so please give new or like-new books, as you'd want your own children to receive. We are especially in need of pre-school and elementary level books. Books in Spanish or Vietnamese are also valuable. Since they will be sorted by age group, please do not wrap them. Donate your own favorite titles or get ideas from the list of Suggested Books.
